Community involvement
Being involved in every community we serve is an important part of the ALCO mission. We strive to foster relationships with our local community members and encourage our store managers to assume the role of "Mayor of Main Street."

Community giving is an ALCO way of life. Our stores volunteer their time to participate in local and company-wide philanthropies. In the fall of 2009, each store participated in A Season of Giving canned food drive to benefit their local food banks. Duckwall-ALCO also matched these donations with our own contributions of up to 50 tons of food distributed across the participating food banks in our trade area.

Duckwall-ALCO participates both at the national and local levels of the Chamber of Commerce. We encourage our store managers to become involved in their communities and their Chamber. The corporate office also participates in the annual United Way philanthropic campaign, giving back to local agencies in the Dickinson County, Kansas, area.
